Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) Lead Mechanic – Região Geográfica Intermediária de Campo Grande – Amentum

Responsibilities:

1. Provides work direction and training for Flight Line Equipment Operators and AGE Mechanics.
2. Communicates, both verbally and in writing, to ensure continuity of operations during and between shifts.
3. Sets an example of professional work ethic and behavior.
4. Supervises maintenance and repair of AGE equipment in at the airfields and in town.
5. Possesses considerable knowledge of machinery to diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Aerospace Ground Equipment either in the field or in a shop environment, with little supervision.
6. Performs service, maintenance, repair, and overhaul in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
7. Interfaces with New York Air National Guard (NYANG) and US Air Force (USAF) personnel on a daily basis.
8. Provides flight line services as required and oversees AGE mechanics.
9. Performs work as specified on work orders or initiates work orders when required.
10. Provides direction, verbally and in writing, concerning operation and repair of AGE.
11. Ensures work performed is in accordance with established procedures and/or manufacturer's specifications.
12. Conducts and records weekly safety meetings.
13. Routinely overhauls, repairs, or maintains gasoline and diesel-powered equipment.
14. Uses diagnostic equipment and procedures to diagnose and correct equipment faults.
15. Inspects lift equipment and determines safe operability prior to issue.
16. Operates shop equipment including load banks, welders, compressors, presses, and nitrogen charging units.
17. Performs generator set inspections and maintenance as required.
18. Provides serviceable equipment to NYANG or USAF as requested.
19. Maintains lines of communication with supervisor, mechanics, and customers.
20. Writes performance evaluations on AGE mechanics.
21. Documents work performed, status of equipment, maintains records, and generates reports as required.
22. Informs AGE supervisor of discrepancies and facilitates problem resolution.
23. Recommends parts re-supply to the AGE supervisor.
24. Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
25. Works rotating shifts as required 24 hours/day.
26. Performs duties in support of Operations Division metrics (as provided by supervisor).
27. Supports the achievement of ASC metrics, whether metrics are directly or indirectly affected by this position's work activities.
28. Complies with all ASC Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals.
29. Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
30. Performs other duties as required.

Required Education, Experience, Certificates and Licenses:

1. High School diploma or GED.
2. A minimum of five years of experience working with a combination of diesel and gasoline engines, AC/DC electrical systems, electronics, high pressure fluid and gas pumps, valves and controls, fuel burners and controls, or equipment operation.

Expected Skills and Competencies:

1. Complies with applicable safety, environment, health, and waste management policies and procedures.
2. Proficient using Microsoft Office Word; ability to accurately document changes to work orders and inventory on a computer-based system.
3. Critical problem-solving and decision-making ability; able to work under minimal supervision.
4. Attention to detail is extremely important.
5. Must be able to use sound judgment and possess solid decision-making ability to solve problems quickly, safely, and effectively.
6. Must be able to pro-actively identify job hazards and communicate those hazards effectively.

Preferred:

1. Two years technical school or similar military training is preferred.
2. Welding experience is preferred.

Physical and/or Other Requirements:

1. Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods.
2. Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica.
3. Successful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer.
4. Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF.
5. Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum as required by the position.
6. Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold as required by the position.
7. Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States.
8. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
